Installation of 109 personal photographs
What remains of the family and social life without the photographic record? Are photographs essential for
remembrance, the most powerful imagery we possess? They are not interchangeable; they are proof of our existence, our evolution and choices. And they are precious because they are imper-
manent? Why do we keep certain photographs and decide to discard others? In this editing process,
we build up through the years our intimate memory and construct, in a way our ideal family of beloved people and places. Is it possible to remember or construct a memory, an event or a face with words alone? We know some of our personal memorabilia so well that they are mentally integrated and inwardly transformed into intimate icons.
But still the need and pleasure to possess the physical photograph-object remains, to look at and touch the object from both sides, to handle its physicality and tactile history.
